Mentor - (H104)
The Mentor is responsible for training new and existing PCA staff. The position also requires the ability to travel throughout the service area and participate in an on-call rotation. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities include:
• Assist with training new and existing agency and consumer PCA staff, as identified.
• Assist in identifying specific training needs of PCA staff
• Participate in the development of training items with staff nurse, human resources, and other staff.
• Log and document training efforts as required
• Serve as a point-of-contact with new PCA staff to orient the employee and ease their transition to CRI and personal care.
• Complete reports to administrative staff as required.
• Perform PCA activities as needed.
• Perform “on-call” duties as scheduled, as Mentor and PCA.
• Perform attendant care duties in a safe and conscientious manner.
• Report problems or concerns to supervisory staff.
• Other duties as needed or directed by supervisor or administrative staff.
Requirements include:
• Three years experience and knowledge as a personal care attendant working with people, who are mentally alert, physically disabled.
• Ability to demonstrate the capability to perform health maintenance activities specified in the consumer’s service plan or be willing to receive training to be able to provide the health maintenance activities in the consumer’s service plan.
• Demonstrated ability to assess and successfully train others’ direct care competencies and skills using a variety of methods, including direct hands-on demonstrations, explanations, coaching, and problem solving.
• Knowledge of Independent Living Skills training topics and methods. Previous experience in an ILS training program.
• High School Diploma or its equivalency, and possess basic math, reading and writing skills.
• Satisfactory driver’s record, valid driver’s license and regular and reliable vehicle availability. Ability to travel throughout the service area.
• Availability on short notice, 24 hours per day, including weekend and evening availability; availability to be scheduled for work 24 hours per day including weekend and evening.
• Current CPR certification at the health care provider level (level C)
• Satisfactory Act 33 and Act 34 clearances (child and elder abuse)
• Ability to perform responsibilities in a safe and effective manner, including following the CRI No Manual Lift Policy.
• Ability to be covered under CRI liability insurances
• Be 18 years of age or older and legally able to work in the United States
