Activities
CRI provides several opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in activities in the community throughout the year. These activities vary from advocacy groups to recreational activities. Many of these activities are consumer controlled, supported by CRI. Good Neighbor Fund
The Good Neighbor Fund, which is separate from Community Resources for Independence, Inc., is directed and funded by its employees, who make small donations through each payroll deduction. In the spirit of being a good neighbor the fund helps out in the local communities of all of our CRI offices, including Allentown, Altoona, Bradford, Clarion, Clearfield, Erie, Hermitage, Lewisburg, Lewistown, McConnellsburg, Oil City, Warren, Wellsboro, and Williamsport. ~ more information ~
Consumer Wellness Meeting
Consumer Wellness Meeting is a CRI sponsored consumer wellness/recreation group to educate people with disabilities on various wellness topics. Assisted by CIL Staff, this group hosts speakers on health related topics and participate in recreation activities in the community. ~ more information ~
Self-Help Meetings
Self-Help Meeting is a CRI sponsored consumer support group to discuss various topics to overcome barriers people with disabilities have in their lives. Moderated by Nancy Makay, monthly topics and articles are presented and discussed between participants on suggestions to overcome barriers. ~ more information ~
BayCity Athletics
The Bay City Thunder & Lightning provides participants an excellent social mechanism providing the opportunity to meet and compete against teams from other cities and states. Currently, a number of the players have collegiate-level playing experience and are always willing to teach newcomers the skills. ~ more information ~
Consumer Advocacy Meetings
Consumer Advocacy Meetings are CRI supported consumer advocacy groups throughout our six CIL Counties (Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Venango and Warren). Assisted by CIL Staff, these groups identify issues and develop strategies for communicating with policy makers and ultimately, affecting positive changes in the community. ~ more information ~
ACP Consumer Advisory Committee
ACP Consumer Advisory Committee is a group that is comprised of members that are strongly committed to staying abreast of issues and concerns surrounding proposed changes in the Attendant Care Program (ACP). ~ more information ~
